Landscape Architect

FireSky is a Design Build Landscape Company that focuses primarily on high end residential projects featuring pools, patios, outdoor kitchens, shade structures, fire elements and general landscaping. Our corporate office is in Reno, NV.

Our mission is to empower the Landscape Architect by putting the Landscape Architect in charge of the Design Build Process rather than the landscape contractor. FireSky does not have ay crews or equipment but takes the position of the “Prime Contractor” on all our projects. We are in control of the project from start to finish which includes initial client meetings, contracts, Phase I Design Service and Construction of the project. We find this arrangement offers our clients much more value than simply hiring designer for the design and then bidding out the work to various contractors.

FireSky is looking for designers that have a good foundation and understanding of residential design and construction practices. For those designers that have a good understanding of commercial design and construction principals but do not have a lot of experience in residential type projects, we have designers that can assist you with the design and estimating process. We also provide training for the systems we use including design, estimating and project management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works with the project team to develop design concepts and presentation graphics

  • Assists with managing the LA project team and project coordination/communication with architecture, structural, civil, MEP and other consultants.

  • Analyze environmental reports on land conditions, such as drainage and energy usage.

  • Prepare site plans/ conceptual plans

  • Production of layout, grading and planting plans.

  • Production of project-specific construction details to resolve complex issues.

  • Prepares Construction Documents, including specifications.

  • Knowledge of Landscape construction materials

  • Select appropriate materials for use in landscape designs.

  • Coordinate the arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures.

  • Prepares construction estimates, budgets.

  • Ability to administer construction.

  • Inspect landscape work to ensure that it adheres to original plans.

  • Ability to discuss construction details with contractors.

  • Seek new work through marketing or by giving presentations

Qualifications:

  • Possess and exhibit strong design talent.

  • 3 to 8 years of experience in Landscape Architecture

  • Demonstrated experience in multi-family, mixed use, urban design and planning sectors

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-up, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Microsoft Office

  • Working knowledge of producing construction document sets

  • Excellent written communication and organization skills

  • Strong grading and construction details skills

  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines while working closely with a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Solid understanding of landscape construction principles.

  • Desire to mentor junior staff

  • Successful management of complex projects and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage and mentor team members as appropriate

  • Experience with plant materials in Western US, preferred.

  • Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills.

  • Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup, Illustrator, GIS/ArcView and Power Point.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft office

  • Software experience preferred: DynaSCAPE 360, DynaSCAPE Design, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max or Similar

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture required from a CLARB accredited school.

  • Active registration in current state of residence

  • CLARB registered (preferred but not required)

  • LEED and Sustainable Sites

Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year

Income – 50% of FireSky Outdoor Fee
